the way the other person wants to receive it, you’ll be that much more effective as a leader. It proved to be highly effective and honors the way different people learn and make decisions. “What was interesting is that over the course of my career, I had already built this skill. I was really good at picking people for certain positions that matched their hard wiring; they will stay in those positions longer when you do that,” conveyed Lisa. “I applied that particular skill to a new element in my business. I began to show business leaders how they can align the work with who you are—because when you do that it is not work—and I also show them the systems. Then, it’s all automated.” When you add automation and systematization, you create repeatable processes and efficiencies. Lisa can even help people systematize their networking process. Business people attend networking events and often collect a “graveyard” box of business cards from other networking professionals. When you meet with somebody at a networking event, that is only one touch point. She suggests that before you leave the networking event, send each new contact a note card. Three days later, they will receive your note card in the mail and you will again be at the top of their mind, which is the second touch point. When you get back to your business, connect with them on social media. You now have created three touch points with the people you have met, and expanded your network. Social media keeps you in the loop with your contacts, informing you of birthdays, career changes, and anniversaries, all of which are opportunities to reach out and stay in touch. DISCOVERY SESSION Excellerate Associates offers what they call a discovery session. Business owners get clear on their direction, put all of the moving pieces of their business together and determine if business coaching is right for them 22 | Eydis Magazine before they dedicate the time and resources to the process. “We review their AcuMax Index so they can see and we can see how they are hard wired,” describes Lisa. “There are a lot of great business owners who end up getting stuck in business. They are trying to grow, they don’t have the right structure or systems, or they are struggling with putting together an effective team.” The assessment makes a clear distinction in the hard wiring of the individual. It reveals who you really are. You were born with these traits, they emerge at about the age of two, and stays with you your entire lifetime. It will reveal the environment where you will best thrive. With this information, Excellerate Associates can then assist business owners in building a business model with which they can be more naturally successful. This is also helpful when business owners bring on team members; it can help them choose the right people for the right positions. BUSINESS VISION Lisa shares her business vision: “I believe when business owners are successful, they give back to nonprofits and causes. Those nonprofits and causes go out to help their communities. Those communities know what it is like to be helped, and, in turn, pay it forward.” She continues, “Through that trickle effect, I believe we can achieve global peace. I stand in my contribution of global peace every day as I make business decisions.” Her energy and conviction around this goal is contagious. This engine of uplifting communities and working toward global peace is ignited by business owners and entrepreneurs because, as Lisa puts it, “Business owners know what it is like to take a leap of faith. They know—genuinely know—what it means to put yourself out there and they comprehend that cycle of reciprocity. They really understand the spirit of giving back.” For Lisa, her great business success has not been an overnight success story. She certainly did not learn this from her corporate positions in the health care industry. This has been a grand journey, like every entrepreneurial venture. She reports that she now has more vulnerability and approachability, and she realizes that those things are necessary parts of bold and powerfully effective leadership. That is what people—her clients, her team—connect with. “When you are an entrepreneur, you have to put yourself out there and you have to be willing to take bold action consistent with your contribution.” If every business owner took action consistent with their contribution and showed up every day stepping into their contribution, we wouldn’t have the issues we have in the world. People want to know what they do matters. They want to make a difference. The reality is that everyone is already making a difference, but may not have been informed of how. Lisa shares a great example.
