Pairing wine with foods can be a difficult task,
especially when a particular food, such as lamb,
can be prepared in a variety of different ways.
Although red wines are almost always paired
with red meat, the type of red that can be
paired with lamb depends entirely on the way
the lamb is prepared and on the spices and
flavourings used. The golden rule is the heavier
the recipe, the heavier the wine. For the rump of
lamb recipe from The Edinburgh School of Food
and Wine on page 20 I r ecommend any of the
following:
Malbec Quinta Generacion
Goyenechea, Mendoza
This is a deep red with purple hues, with a bright
and lively flavour.
Chateau Musar Red Gaston Hochar
Chateau Cissac
Bekaa Valley, 2007
Haut Medoc, Cru Bourgeois
A real fruity number with elements of blackberry,
red cherries and pomegranate.
Delicious blackcurrant notes combined with a
long finish make this an ideal choice.
Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva Privada
Bursts of red and black cherry fruits paired with
notes of liquorice make the perfect combination.
Take a sensational journey through a replica
distillery and The World’s Largest Collection
of Scotch Whisky to find your perfect dram.
Louis Latour
It has a rich ruby red colour with dark blue hues,
and the taste has a well balanced finish.
