I was reminded today of a saying I heard during a productivity workshop back in the 1990s:“ I’ m never more productive than when
MCLAIN there’ s something on
my to-do list that I don’ t want to do.” Fast-forward to 2025, and I’ m retired and sitting under the pergola in my friend’ s beautiful Arizona backyard, overlooking the pool, with the fountain bubbling, and I really want to get back to reading my mystery novel, and not interrupting my getaway to write the monthly article for The Villager. But as president of Charbonneau Arts Association and Festival Organizing
Chair, I have obligations that cannot be postponed, even by master procrastinator me. It’ s too important, and how would I be able to sleep at night? So, here’ s the latest news on the Arts front.
Wilsonville Festival of the Arts @ Charbonneau, Oct. 10-12
The Call to Artists has just been issued and applications for our juried event are being accepted until Sept. 3. We have updated the Charbonneau Arts Association website( charbonneauarts. org) and have begun our outreach to potential sponsors. We have most of our team in place and continue to invite volunteers who want to be part of the festival. I have already heard from community members who want to help. Will you join them? Let’ s talk about what you can do to help. Email me at cathi @ mclainco. com.
Wilsonville Music Festival @ Charbonneau, Aug. 2-3.
The city of Wilsonville awarded a $ 10,000 grant to CAA to support
Charbonneau’ s commitment to the performing and fine arts for Wilsonville and Canby schools. After discussions with CCC Staff and receiving resident input, the scope of this festival will be smaller than the October Arts Festival. The music festival event will be held in the Clubhouse Dining Room Main Stage and outdoor covered Pavilion Stage, beginning on Saturday evening with headliner, Ben Rice and PDX Hustle. Six professional Portland area blues bands will perform on Sunday from noon to 9 p. m., with alternating acts on the two stages. The Revival Brothers Allman Brothers Tribute Band will be the headliner Sunday night. Alice Galloway and the Music Stage Organizing Committee are working to create a festival for Charbonneau and beyond. More details will be reported in upcoming Villager articles.
CAA has scheduled a few fundraising musical events to complement other events being organized by the Country Club staff. Any proceeds will be used to support teachers and
students at Wilsonville and Canby High Schools.
