Make sure to set goals for the season The 2025 season swings into full drive
It is hard to believe that, as of this publication, our 2025“ Joy of Golf” season will be in full swing. While April is the official opening of our golfing season, many of us continued to play golf

in the winter and stayed connected through our Winter Luncheon series.
If you have been following CWGA articles in the Villager, then you may remember that CWGA and the Niners were invited to play on the First Tee of Oregon’ s Golf Course, The Children’ s Course, in Gladstone last year and to see and hear firsthand the goals and

purpose of this national youth program. At our last Winter Luncheon in March, our Membership Committee invited First Tee of Oregon Executive Director Steve Marshall and Director of Programs Paul Herschell to speak with 52 attending CWGA members about this amazing children’ s golf program. First Tee is a national youth development organization founded in 1997 by the World Golf Foundation for the purpose of engaging all youth, but especially youth who lack opportunity, ages 5-18, to learn to play the game of golf while developing life skills. First Tee offers a variety of programs which includes skill-based classes, a caddie academy, a mentor program, a PGA junior league and our personal favorite, LPGA PGA girls’ golf. This was CWGA’ s opportunity to pay it forward to future golfers by collecting and donating gently used golf equipment to this youth program. This effort was supported by The Niners and other members of the Charbonneau community. Check out the photos to see for yourself the CWGA haul of equipment donated!

into full drive on April 1 as we welcome Mary Beisel, Cathie Burns, Suzanne Buxton, Pam Grignon, and Jill Koeppel, new CWGA members, to an orientation of our club. Two days later on April 3, we hold our first general meeting of the year at 8 a. m., followed by a delicious breakfast, and, at 9:30, our opening day scramble. The menu for breakfast consists of two different versions of quiche: Quiche Lorraine( thick cut bacon, shallots, and Gruyere cheese in a homemade butter crust) and The Greek( Caramelized onions, roasted red pepper, spinach, and feta in a butter crust). In addition, there will be Honey Yogurt with homemade pecan granola and fresh fruit, and two different types of sweet bread: banana bread mini loaves with whipped maple butter and blueberry lemon mini loaf with homemade lemon curd. We hope this menu, prepared and served by the Butteville General Store, will entice as many of our 128 CWGA members to join us for this very important opening event! The signup book for lunch and golf is in the Pro Shop. In addition, members must sign up for the Scramble through the invitation from Golf |

Genius.
As we focus our attention to the season of golf, many of us are hoping that our winter play will help us to achieve our goals for this golf season. Have you set your goals for this season? Here are a few ideas: attend lessons or skill workshops with teaching Pro Kaitlyn Howe, improve accuracy and distance in the long game, improve accuracy and finesse in the short game, play golf often, decrease handicap by three-to-five strokes and experience joy in the game of golf! If you are ready, let the 2025 golf season begin!
