1 ) Dune : Part Two - Amazing spectacle , a sci-fi masterpiece - critics are enthusiastic about this film , as some should be ... but the universal thumbs up ignores two important concerns for someone like me , who never read the book : there is no way to follow this flick if you do not know the source material , and each showing takes two hours and 46 minutes . See it ! In theatres ...( but only if you have any idea what this is all about ...) 2 ) One Life - If you can overlook the stodgy , oldfashioned approach , this film is a winner ! A true story about a British financial broker who managed to keep hundreds of children from the Nazis during the fall of Czechoslovakia during World War II - he is haunted by those he could not save for decades until he meets some of those he saved ... as part of a TV show . No one could play this part better than Anthony Hopkins ... See it ! In theatres ... 3 ) Apples Never Fall - A family takes their mother for granted , and she does something about it - disappears . What ' s left ? Lots of drama - this has all of the elements you need - a story based on a best selling book and a respected cast ( Annette Benning , Sam Neill ) - but who do you root for here ? Mom ! - of course ... Watch it ! On Peacock ... 4 ) Road House - The original was grungy and unique - this remake , for some reason , brings the story into modern day , with UFC fighter turned bouncer Jake Gyllenhaal , looking for another chance ... two quibbles : for a flick all about fighting , there is very little action , AND why would you modernize a film that is so identifiable with a time and place ? See it ! In theatres ( if you like Jake )...
