Book lovers usually can ' t turn down the opportunity to collect more books ... understandable , and nothing wrong with that , but once the shelves are filled , where can you store them ? Here are a couple creative and affordable ideas ! Grab a few plastic crates , insert wooden boards between them , and you have simple , inexpensive storage !
And the size and configuration can be changed when you need it to !
Here ' s another crafty idea - get a cable reel , also called a wire spool or drum - the ones that are used to transport fiber optic or electric cables , and are often now for sale online or from industrial supply companies . Paint or stain the reel in the color of your choice . It may need a good sanding first , as the lumber is usually rough . Screw in 4 or 5 dowels as spacers and just add books ! This is a great idea for a kid ' s room - easy , cheap , and very unique !
