Hello and welcome to the April issue of Soltalk . If you were wondering about our cover picture this month , it shows the Fountain of Europe which is made up of 25 stones to represent the union of the European community . Located on the seafront of La Torrecilla Beach , below the Plaza de los Cangrejos . It was moved here from its previous location in the Verano Azul Park . Each of the stones comes from the countries that were part of the European Union in 2002 . The central base is built through eight stones that represent the community of Andalusia . Its inauguration was held on July 12 , 2002 .
Hard to believe that since I wrote this column last month the world has been turned upside down for a whole nation , of course I am talking about the invasion of Ukraine . However disaster always brings out the best in a section of society and you can read on page 35 how local people in the Nerja area have opened their hearts and their homes to some of the refugees of this crisis .
Well Easter is almost upon us and hopefully the processions will go ahead as usual after two years of Covid restrictions . Fingers crossed as they are the highlight of the year for many people .
