Ukrainian refugee mission Nerja

On Friday 18th March , two buses arrived in Nerja arranged by the local Ukrainian Community led by Viktor Zolotukhin . 57 refugees were taken to Casa Arts and hotel Las Piedras both near to Vinuela , where they received amazing care from the local community for four days . that they can see directly who they are helping .

The emotions witnessed there included pure exhaustion , relief , happiness and above all an amazing gratitude . On Sunday and Monday the families moved to the Nerja area where within 10 days , 13 amazing host families had come forward to offer either shared or individual accommodation .
The timeframe that the accommodation is available ranges from 2 weeks to 3 months . The families are now starting the process of trying to piece together some kind of normality whilst negotiating a new surroundings . They are being registered both in the health and administrative systems and it is hoped that soon the children will be in school . Many businesses and clubs have offered support or free services .
This has all happened so quickly that our official charity has not even been fully set up and we do not have access to official funds to help . We are a community-led project desperately looking for : Medium term accommodation providers to work with us to provide accommodation in Nerja / Torrox / Frigiliana and Velez areas for three months plus . We are really trying to avoid families being bounced around shorter term accommodation .
Sponsors who can offer financial support ( no matter how little ) to help these families with their day to day needs ( food , etc ) and also to help the host families with the costs of hosting someone . We are able to match sponsors to individual families so
