LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
The weather to begin the growing season has been very favorable to the golf course . After our fertilizer with pre-emergent application , we were blessed with some good rains to kick everything into gear . We have already started our vertical mowing and light topdressing program on greens to allow for a firmer putting surface . If we stay on this program weekly , it will allow us to gain healthier and faster green conditions through the summer months . Our monthly goal in April is to have a good start to the season and to have the course in great shape for our upcoming member tournaments .
The maintenance staff will be working on a few more detail aspects this month . We will be attempting to get all the cart paths edged and cleaned , a few of the bunkers repaired with extra sand as needed , and a head start on battling mole crickets . The bunkers I would like to address first are the practice bunkers and the green side on # 7 . These bunkers may need more attention with work on drainage and the bunker faces to get them up to par . There are others that need attention as well , but these will be our starting point .
I would like to bring some recognition to our Assistant Superintendent , Rex Light . This past month Rex competed in the Polk Senior Games for golf . Rex won his age group and received a gold medal for his accomplishment ! He will advance to the state level and compete in December . Rex has been a valuable member of the Eaglebrooke team for over 14 years . He is a very positive and humble person , and we are all very fortunate to have him here . If you see Rex on the course , give him a thumbs up and congratulations for his big win !
