COVER STORY politicians ) on the same poles as the politicians are targeting the voters , there is an ecosystem here .
Some casual research revealed that an election year is a boon time for the practitioners of the nether world . The politicians go to church in the morning to proclaim their Christianity and hoodwink their voters and in the evening they pay homage to a more potent force .
Why would a politician need to consult the prince of darkness to be able to represent God fearing citizenry ? Could it be that the activities of the politician cannot stand the light of truth and hence they trust the underworld for guidance ?
The very act of trying to communicate with the infernal to influence positive results on the ballot should be proof enough that whatever the politician says and does his first allegiance will be to the dark forces that he believes delivered the position .
In the days gone by the church was a good arbiter on who the people should vote for , those days are long gone and the politician has so infiltrated the church that the churches themselves have become partisan and add to the confusion .
It has become a tradition for the aspirants to seek divine intervention as they present themselves to various churches to be prayed for by this prophet and that prophetess who have spoken to God directly and it has been revealed that the politician before them is the chosen one .
Elections , it must be reiterated , is a purely marketing exercise and in the same way marketing exhorts the buyer to beware , then it is only fair to warn the voter to beware since the charlatans abound and the tricksters are about , the voter needs to take heed .
The poster just above Mama Mueni caught the attention of the walkers , for the record there were three MCA posters , one for women rep and one for an MP . The light pole was a mess of color and the pattern was repeated on all the poles on that road .
Somewhere in the recess of memory the walkers seem to remember that putting up posters or ‘ postering ’ in Kanyanese is classified as littering and hence illegal but if the past is anything to go by then we expect to hear noise from the NMS just after the elections .
The poster in question was one of an aspiring MCA , there was a rather nice photo of the aspirant and the poster made no other claim except that the aspirant was on the 2022 ballot and that he is in the Azimio movement .
What was interesting about this MCA is that he is currently in jail and what got him into jail was extortion and bribe taking as an MCA . How could this particular MCA have the gall to present himself as a candidate from jail ? Are the voters that gullible ?
This is exactly the type of politician who disconnects your water or refuses to lay down the pipes and then seeks your vote by declaring that he can provide water if you vote for him . He is the solution to the problems that he creates for you .
“ The tendency by the electorate to expect magic every time an election comes around is what has stalled the Kenyan progress , as a voter we must focus more on the institutions that create progress and believe less in the campaign promises of those seeking office .”
But this is totally in line with what we have come to expect of the Kenyan politics , recently we listened in disbelief as the self-proclaimed general without an army and in exile gave a rather disturbing interview on a local television station .
Miguna Miguna , who is no stranger to controversy in Kenya and who supposedly , believes that Kenyans deserve a new deal and better governance took a rather surprising stand on the current political dual as he weighed in with his characteristic fervor .
Miguna Miguna made it clear that the DP was a bad man and a thief who should be in jail but he was endorsing him for the presidency because compared to Baba , Baba was much worse . It is this type of twisted logic that has made voting a walk in the minefield in Kenya .
The Kenyan voter is between the proverbial rock and the hard place since he is not being asked to vote between a good and a bad candidate but between a bad and a worse candidate . This is what creates voter apathy since clearly whoever you choose you lose .
We are so accustomed to hearing that some candidate is a thief but he is our thief , and when accused of grabbing public land we are reminded that others have in the past stolen public land . In Kenya one wrong justifies another .
Last time we checked the meaning of impeachment was a charge of misconduct made against a holder of a public office . Are there any circumstances when such a charge is ever absolved because in Kenya it appears not to matter since impeached individuals are still running for public office ?
Kenyans are puzzled at what type of data the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission holds on politicians since according to the citizenry very few politicians would ever pass the threshold of integrity . But do we really need the commission to point out fraudsters ?
Currently there are many politicians running for office that have court cases pending , most of them are fraud cases and these should be red flags for voters but the most amazing are the two aspirants for top county positions who are facing murder charges in court .
It is in this area that the church , in particular , has let down the voter in that the voice that should castigate fraud and shun immoral behavior has been compromised into silence and by allowing the wrongdoers on their platform , they sanitize them .
Let us accept as a fact that Kenya has never had nor will it ever have a level playing ground for voters and what the politician is always trying to do is to dupe the voter into becoming a voting machine without thinking .
Let us restate the obvious , a politician is a person professionally involved in politics , especially as a holder of an elected office . This is his career and the only qualification he
