PRESIDENT ’ S MESSAGE

ASCE-NH Members and Newsletter readers , I am kicking off this President ’ s Message with a highly important announcement – We are still looking for volunteers to get involved with the ASCE-NH leadership team for this upcoming Program Year . In the very near future when you receive the annual ballot , there will be open positions on the Board of Directors . Please remember that we are always looking to bolster the leadership team and the more involvement that we can get , the better . If any open position or volunteer opportunity is of interest to you , please do not hesitate to reach out to us . We are sad to have a couple of long-standing leaders take a step back , but also excited at the prospect of some new faces joining the team . As noted , be on the lookout for the ballot or feel free to reach out for information regarding opportunities ASAP !

Additionally , I would like to again point out that the ASCE-NH Younger Member Group Happy Hour has returned . Our Younger Member Chair , Ben Brock of Collins Engineers , and future BOD leader , Kyle Higgins of GPI , have been / will continue to coordinate these excellent networking opportunities . Younger Members that are reading this , do not miss out on these monthly gatherings ; likewise , all non-YMs that are reading this , please spread the word and encourage the YMs within your office to attend . Read all about April ’ s gathering at Stark Brewing , as well as what is planned for May within this Newsletter .

The ASCE-NH Section continued our 1-PDH Monthly Lunch & Learn Webinar Series at the end of March . Thank you to our presenters , Harrison Roakes , P . E ., and Stephen Zemba PhD , P . E ., of Sanborn , Head & Associates , as well as everyone that joined us ; we again had just under 100 attendees ! April ’ s Webinar is on Tuesday the 26 th , and registration is included within this Newsletter . Watch your emails for information regarding the May Webinar , which we are currently in the process of scheduling ; per usual , we will target the last week of the month .

With my announcements / updates complete , may I wish you all a happy April ! I cannot believe that we are already at its halfway point . That said , the longer days and warmer weather certainly have me excited for summer , which in my opinion is the best time of year to live in New England . Adding to my excitement this time of year is the start of the baseball season . Baseball is my favorite sport and watching the Red Sox on a nightly basis is my idea of a good time . And now that my wife and I have a 10-week-old daughter , I am sure I will get to see more of the late inning and / or west coast games that I typically have fallen asleep through . Sleep … I miss sleep .

Be safe and I wish you all the best !!

Aaron Cheever , P . E . ASCE-NH President
