free up the clubhouse to be an event venue for occasions like weddings , golf events and fundraisers .
“ That space is not going to go away and will be vital to Charbonneau ,” she said .
Shevlin added that those who may want to use the activity center should contact Jennifer Waggoner at the clubhouse .
“ The residents will come in and see the space and use the space and then come up with new ideas ( that ) perhaps they haven ’ t even considered yet ,” she said .

Anyone can lend a helping hand
Okay , did ANYBODY notice that Sunshine did not have a column last month ? Just wondering .
This month ’ s subject is “ humor ” so I ’ ll try to follow that . It ’ s hard to make injuries and surgeries “ funny ”
VEDDER but even at its worst , there CAN be some funny moments ( you ’ ll look back later and see what I mean !). Hopefully during these miserable times , we have friends and loved ones to help care for us and get us back to normal — whatever that is these days ?
I witnessed such a situation recently . A Charbonneau lady had foot surgery and her friend stepped forward to care for her on a daily basis ! The friend is a retired nurse but any of us can do the basics — a meal , an errand run , tidying up the house , etc . If we live alone , that extra pair of hands can make a world of a difference . As I tried to teach my children ( and my grandchildren ) kindness doesn ’ t cost anything so be sure to use it , often .
As I write this , we STILL are not in the new facility ! Of all the groups that use the CCC , I think Sunshine is one of the main services . Moving hundreds of items , large and small , from one building to the other will be a monumental job . Make no mistake , it cannot be done in one day ( maybe several ?). The move will need to be complete because we won ’ t be able to function between two spots . Please bear with us , and , better yet , stay well for at least a few weeks ?
We ’ ve received some new donations that need mentioning , one is a humidifier ( small , personal sized ). I used to use one on a regular basis when our kids were small , lots of ‘ croup ,’ etc . We ’ ve also accepted another ‘ knee scooter ’ which now gives us three for surgery on feet and ankles . We now have removable trays for use with the basic aluminum walkers . We ’ re always looking for new or gently used items .
As a community , Charbonneau is a beautiful place to live , filled with people who share and care . All of us at SUNSHINE wish all of you a glorious spring ahead !
