Unfortunately , the fate of the first COTA event of 2021 became uncertain in January 2021 , when the club found out that the original Dallesport site was no longer available . The first event of the series became TBD and all those who had ridden at Dallesport in the past were saddened by the news .
Scott Paider , a 3-year club member , was determined to find a new spot and began looking for alternative venues right away . As COTA President Daryn Reid described on Facebook , Scott “ was tenacious and ultimately secured us a fantastic location !!!!!” Scott , with the help of Mike Erland ( owner of Fun Country
Power Sports in the Dalles , OR ), worked with the landowner to secure the new location with all the classic and loved elements of the region . But the hard work didn ’ t stop there . The area had never been used for a trials event before . After securing the location , Scott spent countless hours identifying potential sections and trimming the tall grasses to prepare the areas for riders . Mark Snyder was the Trials Marshal for the event , and together with Scott , they designed 14 brand new sections ( six shared sections and eight AM / PM split sections ).
