CKE : Prior to races , we ’ re busy coordinating between the club staff , communicating what we need at the races for the event to be successful , and introducing new people from club to club . There are lots of phone calls and emails .
WP : How has technology played an impact on how TSCEC organizes their scoring system ?
BTC : It ’ s great when the service works on your side and scoring guns all work properly . When these things aren ’ t on our side we just need a little time to get through it all and resolve the issues .
CKE : Things can be complicated on the scoring side . There are lots of moving parts , but when it works it creates a great customer service aspect for the riders . If things go well , things are super easy , when things go wrong , it can be a mess .
WP : Personalities can clash in any organization . With such a big community , how are disputes handled by the Scoring Team ?
CKE : High level disputes require group discussion between the entire TSCEC board , low level disputes happen between the scoring group . We never make decisions without speaking to one another . This is a great system for the low level and high level as it is always a group decision .
WP : What encouraged you to take an active role within TSCEC ?
BTC : When there is a problem we try to find the solution . No one showed interest in scoring so we thought we could help this year to keep it from falling on the clubs . Currently , TSCEC co-sanctions events with the Rocky Mountain Enduro Circuit , the Post Enduro Association , Black Jack Enduro Circuit , Lubbock Trail Riders , and the National Enduro Promotions Group .
CKE : In the old days before fancy electronics , the clubs were responsible for manual scoring . When we realized that there wasn ’ t much interest in the position , we decided to try and develop a system that will allow the clubs and TSCEC to score races together - the result being a better partnership between TSCEC and the individual clubs as well as scoring accuracy .
WP : It sounds like there isn ’ t much interest in the position because so much work is involved . What actions can the TSCEC community take to support the Scoring Team ?
