The February 28th Columbia Observed Trials Association trial at Dallesport was a brilliant start to the 2021 series and the first of what the club hopes will be many successful events at a new location .
Dallesport is situated on the Washington side of the Columbia River , across from The Dalles , Oregon . The region offers a picturesque landscape of rolling hills , rocky outcroppings , breathtaking views , and phenomenal traction . It can be cold and windy , but also frequently provides amazing weather when much of the pacific northwest is soggy and cloud covered . Traveling east from Portland to Dallesport , there is a point on I-84 where the sky seems to magically open ; the clouds disappear , and the sun shines just a little bit brighter . Or maybe it just seems that way because of the anticipation of getting to ride in the excellent conditions at Dallesport .
It is a great place to start off the series .
