feature article apr 2019 SPRING MAINTNANCE FOR YOUR G GOLF CART enerally, the annual maintenance on electric golf carts is pretty minimal - provided some simple preventative maintenance is completed throughout the season. The most important maintenance of all is battery maintenance. It is very important to keep your cart charged and also keep your battery water at the correct level. HINT: Unlike other battery types, draining your cart battery is actually very harmful. These two things alone are the biggest issues that an electric cart owner faces. Ensuring you have clean battery cables and tight connections are also very important, as loose battery connections can lead to melting battery posts. Other then battery maintenance there is greasing of only a couple areas, including the rear differential oil level, inspection of your brake pads and self-adjusting brake assembly along with keeping your air pressure correct in the tires and keeping the cart clean. It’s really quite straight forward is not too hard at all! With the arrival of the 2019 golf season, here are some spring maintenance tips, to ensure your golf cart is ready to hit the fairways or cruise around the resort all season long. DIY Spring Maintenance Tips for Electric Golf Carts 1. CLEAN YOUR CART: Roll that dusty cart out of your garage and give it a good rinse. Don’t be afraid to spray the batteries, just be mindful of the electronics. 2. CLEAN BATTERIES: Have a look at your battery terminals and make sure they are clean. If you have corrosion on the terminals, getting the terminals wet (if you haven’t already with the garden hose) then adding a bit of baking soda to the terminals.
