TIM ANNESLEY
HOCKEY TOURNAMENT
Friday evening saw the kick-
off of the 23rd annual Tim
Annesley Hockey Tournament.
This yearly tradition all got
started back in the mid 1990s,
when avid hockey lover and
player Tim Annesley died sud-
denly from a tragic accident at
his work. After Tim’s death, a
group of hockey teammates and
friends decided to start a tourna-
ment in his honor. Tim had a
very young daughter named Tina
when he died, and this tourna-
ment was started to raise money
for Tina's education and to help
in her life. After Tina was done
with her education and out on
her own, the money then went to
local charities like the Canadian
Heart and Stroke Foundation,
Cancer Society, and many other
worthy causes.
This year, the Tim Annesley
Hockey Tournament included
over 15 teams taking part this
year in the three divisions. The
Eric and Jane Molson Arena was
a noisy place all weekend. Sun-
day, the finals started at 12:30
with “Pride” and “Bishops Uni-
versity Mens” teams clashing
and “Pride” winning 7-1 in the
Open Division. Then it was time
for the “Cutters” to clash with
the “Chiefs” in the Recreational
Division. The “Cutters” beat the
“Chiefs” 4-1. The “Cutters” is the
team that Tim Annesley played
on for many years up to his
death. The “Lennoxville Old Tim-
ers “ clashed with the “Sher-
brooke All Stars” in the
40-years-and-up division. The
“Sherbrooke All Stars” beat the
“Lennoxville Old Timers,” 6-2.
This brought the 23rd edition of
the Tim Annesley Memorial
Hockey Tournament to a close
and both players and fans
headed home after a long week-
end of hockey fun.
