A MEMBERSHIP LIKE NO OTHER Did you know the most unique private club membership in the country is in your backyard? Canongate Golf Clubs offers an unprecedented type of membership with access to a select group of 22 private clubs in the greater Atlanta area, including Heron Bay in Locust Grove, Sun City Peachtree in Griffin and Georgia National in McDonough. All three clubs provide championship courses with Bentgrass greens and spectacular vistas as well as swim and tennis facilities at Heron Bay. Add to that a dynamic club life and you have three of the most popular clubs in the Canongate portfolio. Heron Bay is built on the edge of the beautiful 1,100-acre Cole Reservoir providing great panoramic views. Designed by acclaimed architect Jeff Burton, the 7,306-yard, par-72 course is the longest in the Canongate network and features TifSport Bermuda fairways and Bentgrass greens for a superior putting surface. In addition to its scenic setting, Heron Bay is known for its great bunker placement and superior course conditioning. One of the newest members of the Canongate network is Sun City Peachtree which was added in 2009. With a focus on playability and an enjoyable golf experience, the 6,822-yard, par-72 course from architect Gary Stephenson features generous fairways and large Bentgrass greens. It also offers great vistas from a number of elevated tees. The final member of this impressive trio is Georgia National, designed by Denis Griffiths in 1994. Just like its neighbors, the 6,907yard, par-72 course is known for its Bentgrass greens and spectacular lakes and creeks as water comes into play on 11 holes. As a testament to its quality, the course has hosted several prestigious events including the Women’s U.S. Open Qualifier in 2009. When you are not on the course, all three clubs offer excellent practice facilities. Each club has a driving range and a practice putting green while Sun City Peachtree adds a short game area and practice bunkers to its facility. Private and group lessons are also available from the clubs’ professional golf staff, including highly-regarded Frank Gasaway at Heron Bay and Georgia National. There are also very active golf leagues as well as multiple opportunities for juniors to learn the game. In addition to excellent golf courses, each offer great dining options and active social calendars. Members also love the two tennis courts and full-sized swimming and kids’ pools at Heron Bay. If you and your family want to spend more time outdoors and enjoy quality time with friends, a membership to Heron Bay, Sun City Peachtree and Georgia National offers the perfect opportunity.
