Scott County Partnership: On the Move
New and exciting opportunities abound for the Partnership programs and for Scott County!
The Partnership & the YMCA partnered on a grant that will measure BMI rates for elementary students in Scott
County helping our “Get Healthy! Scott County” coalition improve health outcomes and rankings.

Gleaner’s, a feeding program, is once again proving to be a valuable partner with the Partnership and Scott County
by taking food into the different Scott County communities. They also provide two extra food-giveaways each month
in collaboration with the Clearinghouse.
Substance Abuse Prevention programs are plentiful! Guiding Good Choices, a five week class to help parents or
care-givers learn techniques to keep kids substance abuse-free These are excellent classes that provide the “tools”
that all of us need in order to help our children & youth make good choices! Call 752-7365 for info.
All-Stars, a drug prevention program for middle school students is being taught at the Austin Learning Center.
WhyTry? is a mentoring program for select students at Scottsburg High School. Curriculum and training is also
provided through the CTC grant through the Partnership.
A Positive Norms Campaign is being researched, planned, and will soon be unveiled that will let our community
know of the positive things happening with our youth.
AmeriCorps has members serving with the Austin Learning Center, at Scottsburg Middle School and Scottsburg
High School providing over 3000 hours of volunteer service. Members also serve with the Clearinghouse & the
Scott County Circles® Campaign.
The Circles® Campaign is recruiting individuals or families who happen to have lower income levels who would
like support to become self-sufficient.
