Around The Region
(Continued from page 14)
Saint Louis de France Church in
East Angus, Que., to check out
the East Angus and regional Art
and Woodworking Show. We
entered this majestic old church
to find close to 20 artisans displaying their work, which
included quilting, wooden toys,
wooden bowls, paintings, handcrafted jewelry, knitting and
much more to see and enjoy. This
event has become a tradition for
many years now and I'm sure it
will continue for many years to
come.
We came in contact with Jocelyn Huppe, who this reporter
likes to call The Butterfly Man
because he uses real butterflies
in his crafts. This year he has
started making very pretty cutting boards out of small pieces of
wood.
Just across from him was
Gerard Tardif from near Richmond, Que., and his wooden
bowls, wine glasses and even
hand made wooden urns for cremated ashes. We also found a
man from Asbestos, Que., by the
name of Denis Lacharite with his
handmade wooden toys. This
fellow can certainly make good
toys.
The walls were lined with
paintings done by local artists.
This special Art Show had the
perfect setting being in this historic old church that beauty is in
every corner. We met and talked
with people from near and far.
