Welcome

A very warm welcome to the seventh volume of the Applied Coaching Research Journal .
As we start to see the roadmap out of Covid-19 , and the relief to many of a new normal , coaches can begin to plan their return to play , and ‘ drop ’ the virtual sessions . What Covid-19 has shown us , is that the coaching community is flexible , resilient and adaptable as they have continued to support and develop the people in their care throughout extremely challenging times .
The research team set out three years ago to deliver a journal that was accessible and engaging for everyone interested in coaching ; reaching out to coaches , coach developers , wider coaching workforce and academics . Volume 7 has achieved just that with a fantastic blend for all . I hope you find the articles in this edition enjoyable and informative .
It gives me great pleasure to introduce Dr Katie Dray as our guest editor . Katie teaches Sports Science and Coaching and is Programme Director for Sport Coaching Science at Canterbury Christ Church University . She is also a senior fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a BASES Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist . In addition to her teaching , Katie is an active British Psychological Society chartered psychologist and currently supports a number of athletes and sports teams . Katie ' s research interests include exploring social , psychological and behavioural features of sport coaching practice and examining best practice in coach education . Katie has written the editorial for us and I am sure you will enjoy reading her thoughts .
The editorial team are passionate about coaching and coach research , and would love for you to share the journal with colleagues within coaching . Through researchled , insight driven practice , we aim to support individuals to deepen their knowledge and understanding of coaching , and provoke you to think and reflect to further improve and develop your coaching practice .
If you are interested in contributing to the journal or have any feedback , please contact the research team at researchteam @ ukcoaching . org . Or for further learning and ideas about coaching , check out our website : www . ukcoaching . org
