They do not necessarily reflect the views of UK Coaching, its management or staff. Throughout these articles, the pronouns he, she, him, her and so on are interchangeable and intended to be inclusive of both males and females. It is important in sport, as elsewhere, that both genders have equal status and opportunities. The term parent includes carers, guardians and other next of kin categories. UK Coaching will ensure that it has professional and ethical values and that all its practices are inclusive and equitable. © The National Coaching Foundation, 2020 Photography © UK Coaching unless otherwise stated. Designed and produced by Coachwise Creative (94008) ISSN 2516-3191 2 Welcome It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the latest edition of the Applied Coaching Research Journal, following the success of our third research conference in February 2020. I would like to thank all the delegates and speakers who joined us at the conference in Derby and shared their insights and learning on how to maximise the potential of people in sport and in life. I would also like to introduce Edel Quin – one of our keynote speakers from the research conference – who has joined the team as a guest editor for this edition of the journal. At the conference, Edel shared her experience of the dance world and how innovations in dance science are being used to shape dance teaching and practice. You can hear more from Edel in the editorial. This edition of the journal includes a selection of the research studies that were presented at the conference. It includes studies by researchers and practitioners operating in different roles and in different environments, from PhD students and academics, to research professionals and coach developers. It is very much our intention to share research and insights from across the sector and I hope you find these summary articles useful for your own research or practice. I hope you will join us for Coaching Week later this year, when we will share and celebrate great coaching. You can get involved at #GreatCoaching.
