Appliance Repair – Learn How
to Handle Things on Your Own!
• Get Familiar with the Refrigerant Cycle
o If you really want to be able to repair appliances, you should first educate
yourself a bit about the refrigerant cycle because most of the appliances
in your home contain it, such as air conditioners, heat pumps, and
refrigerators. You should learn how it works and things that can go wrong.
It also makes sense to learn more about the path refrigerant takes and the
way your compressor, evaporator, and condenser work together.
• Learn to Check the Ignition Processes
o So many gas-powered appliances stop working properly when there is an
issue with ignition processes. Some appliances may have pilot lights while
others may work using electric starters. Whenever you notice these
appliances go bad, you should start by checking the ignition process.
Double-check and ensure that the pilot light has no problem turning on.
The starters should also be aligned properly. Check all these small parts for
any blockage caused by soot.
