contemporary currents pervading the
retail sector of India’s apparel industry.
The retail sector in India is undergoing a drastic
change at the moment. Statistics and reports
claim that the ‘big Indian retail market’ is
expected to hit R80 trillion by 2020. At present,
the Indian retail industry employs around 40
million people and has around 15 million outlets.
This is a remarkable figure, as few countries boast
a number as huge as this. Experts believe that
these outlets form the backbone of the industry
and are one of the main Unique Selling Points
(USPs) of India’s retail market.
