BRAND PROFILE “All mothers rightfully feel that their kids are growing up too fast. And to ensure that they get their money’s worth, I have designed some pieces with modifiable straps, like our summer tops and rompers that can be worn for a long duration of time,” Veronna says. In addition, to make the clothes adaptable to different weather conditions, she suggests that cotton T-shirts can be worn under rompers for added protection, and that stockings/leggings can be added to the ensemble when the weather turns cool. ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS In keeping with the label’s ethos of being environmentally sensitive, Veronna designs clothes in a way that minimises fabric wastage. After the cloth is cut, the leftover scraps are gathered and kept in a box, which are later used to create additional adornments such as ruffles, and even accessories and carry bags. “I have kept a box in the studio specifically for collecting extra scraps to make my team aware of the importance of saving and reusing cloth. Interestingly, with our efforts, the box is only half full ever since the time we started producing!” Veronna is looking forward to widening her portfolio by designing more garments for girls as IN KEEPING WITH THE LABEL’S ETHOS OF BEING ENVIRONMENTALLY SENSITIVE, VERONNA DESIGNS CLOTHES IN A WAY THAT MINIMISES FABRIC WASTAGE. well as boys, and participating in exhibitions, pop- ups, and events that resonate with her brand. Inspiration comes to her from everything and everywhere—from her travels to life around her. “I have found that setting up an apparel enterprise requires effort and planning. It is a journey of patience and perseverance. Yet, when designing for kids, I feel that all the elements of my styling days come together to form an overall wonderful experience. The move from being a fashion stylist to a kids’ wear designer has been one of great learning and enrichment, and I am quite eager to see how my label develops from here on.” APPAREL I September 2019 I 65
