Japan Apparel Imports
January to May 2018
Japanese apparel imports fall in May
Japanese apparel import saw a sharp fall in May this year.
The country imported apparels worth US $ 1,996 million in
May, while the import value in April was US $ 2,169 million.
Knitted apparel import plunged significantly to US $ 913.32
million as compared to US $ 1,015 million in April month.
The downfall was noted mainly due to the weakening yen
which impacted import. However, Japan has signed an FTA
with EU recently which is said to make import cheaper from
the region in upcoming months.

India Exports
During the review period, India
got a boost in both volume
and value of apparel exports to
Japan by 7.56% and 9.54%,
respectively.
Vietnam Exports
Vietnam escalated in its apparel
exports to Japan as the country was
up by 17.88% in volumes, whereas
the country got 14.81% boost in
export value.

Bangladesh Exports
Bangladesh noted surge in both knitted
and woven segments. Apparel exports to
Japan upped by 15.65% in volumes and
13.64% in values.
China Exports
China continued falling in its apparel
exports to Japan as volumes dipped
by (-) 1.46%; values too plunged by
(-) 2.76%.
