Most of them said that apart from knowing the latest in technology, the event also gave them an insight into where the business was heading. Of the few exporters who did visit the fair, the general feedback was that there is business in the market for those players who are committed to the trade, but sadly not everyone wants to make that much effort. “It is disappointing the way exports are going, but companies that are serious are looking for ways to be effective, whether in terms of saving on cost of production or adding value through techniques like printing. And that is why visiting such fairs is important,” said Amarjit Singh of Indigo Apparel, Delhi. While the players from the export segment were talking of 20 per cent decrease in business, players from the domestic segment were excited about the future. Sandeep Gupta, Head of Business Development Asia Pacific, Solunaris, Ahmedabad averred that in next five years, apparel business will grow at a rate of 30 per cent annually. Overall most of the visitors looked content and believed there is always something interesting coming up in technology every year. It was interesting to see lot of sportswear manufacturers/companies attending the event – yet again showing the growing prominence of sportswear. Many felt sportswear has been booming since last decade. Substantiating further on the above, Yoginder, Owner, Aerotech Wears Pvt Ltd, Delhi said that sportswear industry has been doing well and the Indian apparel industry is seeing year-on-year improvement. He however added that Indian fabric quality needs improvement. Meanwhile Rajesh Gupta, MD of RMP Fab Sourcing, Panipat which has an annual turnover of Rs. 300 crore and calls itself an innovative fabric supplier, was looking for latest digital printing technology. The organisers of the event were very satisfied with the turnout and shared that most of the exhibitors were happy with the enquiries and some of the companies even confirmed that they booked business. “The buzz that was generated throughout the three days was ample proof that Gartex has created its place in the market and people pan-India have come to understand the direction of the industry and are seeking new business opportunities,” concluded Gaurav Juneja, MD, MEX Exhibitions.
