A timeless wardrobe piece
that returned as a striking
statement this season
is the trench coat. For
S/S ’19, the indispensable
trench explores
innumerable varieties of
the standard look with
variations in its length,
prints, material and style.
Alexander McQueen
presented the trench
in diverse ultra-modern
designs, paying tribute
to the growing workwear
and athleisure culture.
McQueen incorporated
the use of materials such
as PVC, satin, viscose and
polyester in mainly black,
grey, beige, electric blue
and pink colorways to
achieve this feat.
Collar play was a hard
detail to miss, from long
lapels to basic shirt collars
paired with patches drooping from the shoulder; a
plethora of such options were introduced.
Berthold and AMI kept it classic, confirming the trench’s
perennial appeal, while Neil Barrett played with an
oversized abstract leaf print. Y/project’s version was a
noticeable excess fabric effect combined with dual fabrics
and the cling warp effect coat.
FDCI announces
Lotus Make-Up as
the Title Sponsor
for India Fashion
Week S/S '19
Lotus Make-Up would be replacing
Amazon as the title sponsor for India
Fashion Week for S/S ’19 as revealed
by FDCI this month. The 32nd edition
of the show will be held from October
10 to 13 at Delhi’s JLN Stadium.
Previously called Amazon India
Fashion Week, the event has been
rechristened to Lotus Make-Up India
Fashion Week.
This year, a B2C-themed initiative
called the ‘Designer Stockroom’ is
being introduced that will provide
designers a chance to sell their
creations. The conventional tradition
of buyer sale for first four days and
runway shows will continue like every
year and the sale open to the public
will occur for the consequent two
days- October 14 & 15. Amazon was
title sponsor of IFW from A/W 2015 till
this year’s edition of AIFW A/W 2018.

The key highlight is the ‘Sisyphus Reclined’ which is a three-floor scaffold
interactive art installation by British artist Graham Hudson. It features a
technologically-advanced robot that
sculpts human forms based on body
scans taken on the top level to be
displayed around the installation.
Tisci is transforming Burberry as the
Burberry logo underwent a complete
overhaul and the brand banned the
use of real fur in its merchandise.
