PERSPECTIVE STORY
OWNERS USING SOCIAL MEDIA
TO STAY UPDATED…
FEW COMMERCIAL GAINS TOO
Use of social media is almost unavoidable nowadays, especially for professionals, as social media is one of the
strongest tools for them, be it across the globe updates about industry or personal growth opportunities. In our
industry, some owners are also very active on social media, especially on serious platforms like LinkedIn and Twitter.
Apparel Online caught up with some owners active on these two platforms, and though we could not find any
‘celebrity’ user with millions of followers, owners are using these platforms on a regular basis.
W
hile these social media users
admit that they have not gained
much directly from being on any
social media, like order booking or
buyer contacts, but the assimilation of
knowledge, updates, feedback about
their products, appreciation for their
various initiatives and connectivity
across the globe with different kinds of
people within the trade and outside the
trade, is definitely their biggest gain.

As far as apparel exporters or
textile industry’s important voices
on Twitter is concerned, one will
not find much there. Ashok G
