Animal print is a trend that rears
its head every few seasons.
Diverting back into the fashion
platform for this fall, we saw
vivid colours and a head-to-toe
policy being followed.
Tom Ford did not hold back as
he envisioned Leopards and
Cheetahs in more ways than
one, top-to-bottom in bold and
bright colours such as reds,
yellows, and even Pantone®
violets, as well as merging fauna
influences with sequins to make
for a contrasting detail in the
jackets.
Victoria Beckham, on the
contrary, used the trend in an
understated manner and gave
rise to refreshing trench coats.
Adam Selman embraced the
zebra print by showcasing
the print in well-tailored slip
dresses and off-the-shoulder
monochromatic tops. Staying
on the same page, Zadig & Voltaire put a colourful twist
making the usual monochrome even more striking.

Lacoste's
Creative Head
parts after 8 years
French sportswear clothier
Lacoste is parting ways with its
long-time Creative Director Felipe
Oliveira Baptista. Felipe had been
overseeing design at Lacoste
since 2010 and the exodus reveals
more underlying changes being
set in motion by the brand’s CEO
Thierry Guibert. Guibert said in a
statement, “A new stage will now
open and I am extremely confident
about the future successes of our
brand, emblematic of French know-
how and elegance.”
Baptista’s farewell collection
will be the brand’s collaboration
with the International Union
for Conservation of Nature that
entailed the redesign of Lacoste’s
for 10 limited-edition pieces and
was shown in February 2018. A
successor has not been named and
the upcoming Spring 2019 will be
designed by the studio team.

Targon is Co-founder of buzzy street/sports label Baja East and was appointed
to design Jacobs’ lower-priced range. Before LVMH consolidated Marc Jacobs’s
scattered sister labels in 2015, the contemporary line was responsible for
80% of the brand’s overall
revenues. Amidst rumours
abuzz over Jacobs’ inability to
loosen control over the creative
leadership, the company
released a statement saying:
“John Targon is a talented
designer and we appreciate
the work he has done here.
Ultimately, working together ‘did
not make sense’ to the brand
and we wish him the best.”
