TRADE STATISTICS EU apparel imports see decline in unit prices January 2018 The European Union kicked off 2018 by noting a considerable surge of 11.62% in volumes. Markedly, unit prices fell drastically to Euro 17.51 as compared to Euro 19.08 in the same month of the prior year indicating that major apparel exporters to EU are reducing their margins in order to stay relevant and cost-competitive. Bangladesh emerges as the biggest beneficiary as the data shows; it absorbed most of the shifting apparel manufacturing business from China. India and Pakistan too are posting surge in their respective apparel exports to the Union which makes the situation even tougher for Vietnam as far as the European market is concerned.
