Vietnam emerges highest grosser in Canadian apparel imports
Canada, by far in 2018, has seen no decline in its apparel import values. Shipment from China, however, fell marginally but Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Bangladesh and Indonesia have surged significantly in their respective apparel exports to Canada. Vietnam emerged as the highest grosser as it upped its exports from US $ 270 million last year to US $ 310 million this year( till May). If this surge is anything to go by, it can be stated that Vietnam is capitalising on the benefits the country got from the recently signed CPTPP.

The knitted apparel reported 5.30 % surge during the review period, whereas the woven segment saw rise of 5.20 % in value terms.
During the review period, the value of Indian knitted apparel exports increased by 13.90 %. On the other hand, export value of woven segment marginally rose by 2.60 % on Y-o-Y basis.
During the period, the country noted decline by(-) 7.90 % in its knitted garment exports to Canada, whereas woven segment exports upped by 0.50 %.
Knitted garment exports from Vietnam to Canada escalated by 17.40 %, while export of woven garments was up by 12.20 %.
B’ Desh Exports

Bangladesh grew in both knitted and woven garment exports to Canada by 0.20 % and 4.20 % respectively, during the review period.
Pakistan Exports

In woven category, the Pakistan’ s export values were down by(-) 10.70 %. On the other hand, knitted segment exports to Canada registered notable growth of 36.80 % on Y-o-Y basis.
China Exports
In the knitted garment exports, China plunged by(-) 1.10 %, whereas the woven garments noted boost by 0.60 % during the period under review.
Indonesia Exports

9.90 %

In the knitted garment exports, Indonesia surged by 17.90 %, while exports of woven garments upped by 3 % on the yearly note.

Trade Update

Pakistan reports 13 % surge in readymade garment exports

Pakistan Readymade Garment sector once again reported an increase in export during July 2017 to May 2018 period. During the period under review, the country’ s readymade garment export reported a 13 per cent increase to US $ 2.34 billion as compared to US $ 2.07 billion in the corresponding period last year. The data has been revealed by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics( PBS).
During the period, the country exported around 38,195 thousand dozens of readymade garments as compared to 31,584 thousand dozens, in the corresponding period last year.
A total of around 98,783 thousand dozens knitwear items were exported during the period under review as compared to 93,644 thousand dozens items with face value of US $ 2.10 billion in the corresponding period last year.
Bedwear segment also reported an increase of 6.65 per cent to US $ 2.05 billion as compared to 1.92 billion in the same period last year. A total of 3,38,377 metric tonnes of bedwear was exported from the country during the reporting period. The figure stood at 3,20,998 metric tonnes during the same period of last year, added PBS.
A 1.66 per cent increase in towels’ export to US $ 736.92 million from US $ 724.86 million was also reported during this period.
The textile group exports from Pakistan reported an increase of 9.82 per cent to US $ 12.33 billion during the reporting period from US $ 11.23 billion in the same period previous fiscal.
