Clash of such event dates is not
a new thing, as we have seen
many times that almost similar
dates are alloted for Hong Kong
Fashion Week and IIGF. In such a
case, we try to figure out where
more buyers or our perspective
buyers will visit or which fair
will benefit more. So we divide
teams accordingly, or manage
anyhow. Yes, within India, such
clash of two major fairs is a new
thing which seems just a matter
of chance. But I know some
companies which participate
in both events and might get
affected. Earlier, till a few years
back, we used to do the same.
Now we are not participating in
CMAI event as here we observe
major footfall of small retailers,
rather than good chain stores.

With regard to similar dates of
IIGF and NGF, it will definitely
affect some garment exporters
also catering to domestic market
or entering into the same. Both of
these exhibitions, are top fairs, in
their segments. There are some
companies who will not be able
to participate in both the fairs so
they have to miss the prospect
of business opportunities at
least in one fair. But we have to
understand the dilemma of the
organisers and the international
events’ scenario, like 9-12th
July is Hong Kong Fashion Week,
16-18th July is IIGF and 22-24th
July is Pure London, so whether
it is about dates or buyer’s
visitation, there is a dilemma.
Though there is no strong solution
to this situation, a unified fair

Recent scams and increasing NPAs are creating pressure on banking sector.
At the same time, balance sheets of apparel manufacturers, especially of
exporters, are not showing good indications, resulting in huge pressure
on financial limits. Are you also facing the heat of liquidity… How are you
managing the working capital… What is the solution to this critical problem?
at one common destination
can be a good option. As
far as technology fairs are
concerned, I will only say
that in a recent edition of
VASTRA fair (garment sourcing
event), there was a display of
machines also. The show had
a hall where machines were
displayed by the machines
providers. So, during exhibiting
at the show, we had little spare
time and booked machines in-
between. All the stakeholders
of this industry, be it organisers,
participants or visitors, have to
plan accordingly and support
each other.
