SUSTAINABILITY Polartec achieves 100% usage of post-consumer recycled materials through its insulation technology The leading provider of innovative textile solutions, Polartec has introduced its upgraded version of Power Fill insulation that is now made up of 100 per cent post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials. Markedly, the company started using 80 per cent recycled materials in its innovative technology to lead the charge in the textile industry just one year ago, and today, it has already reached the 100 per cent mark quicker than the expectations. As per the press release issued, the company claims that it has put more than one billion plastic bottles in use to make hundreds of fabric style. It is pertinent to mention here that Polartec Power Fill is made up of trademark hollow materials which are combined together by a process that doesn’t impact the environment, and even provides long-life and best insulating properties. Reportedly, the company advertises that its Power Fill technology is not heavy and its warm insulation system can help in drying the water and compressing the fabric at the same time. This technology is already being used by brands like Triple Aught Design, Millet, and Bight Gear, as the technology is better suited for the cold weather apparel. Gary Smith, Polartec CEO said that the company is proud that it achieved the requirements to manufacture world-class insulation using just PCR materials. “Discovering sustainable solutions has been the main agenda of our science of fabric,” he added. Altho ugh there is no timeline given by the company for the sales of these products, it is being reportedly stated that the completely recycled material will be soon available in the form of puffy-style gear and accessories in near future.
