SUSTAINABILITY
Polartec achieves 100% usage of
post-consumer recycled materials through
its insulation technology
The leading provider of innovative
textile solutions, Polartec has
introduced its upgraded version
of Power Fill insulation that
is now made up of 100 per
cent post-consumer recycled
(PCR) materials. Markedly, the
company started using 80 per
cent recycled materials in its
innovative technology to lead
the charge in the textile industry
just one year ago, and today,
it has already reached the 100
per cent mark quicker than the
expectations. As per the press
release issued, the company
claims that it has put more than
one billion plastic bottles in use
to make hundreds of fabric style.
It is pertinent to mention here
that Polartec Power Fill is made
up of trademark hollow materials
which are combined together by
a process that doesn’t impact the
environment, and even provides
long-life and best insulating
properties.
Reportedly, the company
advertises that its Power Fill
technology is not heavy and its
warm insulation system can help in
drying the water and compressing
the fabric at the same time. This
technology is already being used
by brands like Triple Aught
Design, Millet, and Bight Gear, as
the technology is better suited for
the cold weather apparel. Gary
Smith, Polartec CEO said that the
company is proud that it achieved
the requirements to manufacture
world-class insulation using just
PCR materials. “Discovering
sustainable solutions has been
the main agenda of our science of
fabric,” he added. Altho ugh there is
no timeline given by the company
for the sales of these products, it
is being reportedly stated that the
completely recycled material will
be soon available in the form of
puffy-style gear and accessories in
near future.
