more inclined towards value-added
and quality apparels and there is no
denial that India has always had an
upper hand in producing such kinds
of garments, but, since UAE is shifting
towards the countries located in close
proximity such as Turkey and Egypt,
the exports from India are registering
a negative trend.

Sanjay Lalbhai honoured with Lifetime
Achievement Award
The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India’s
Lifetime Achievement Award for the year 2017 was
conferred upon Sanjay Lalbhai, Executive Chairman –
Arvind Lifestyle Brands Ltd., for his role as a leader of
Indian textile and apparel industry. Textile Commissioner
Dr. Kavita Gupta and Rahul Mehta, President, CMAI
presented the award to Sanjay Lalbhai at a glittering
Apex Awards 2017 Night in Mumbai. Nielsen India was
the research partner for Apex Awards 2017 and 500
retailers were surveyed to finalize the award winners in
22 categories.
ISEPC honours exporters
The Indian Silk Export Promotion Council (ISEPC)
celebrated the achievement of its member exporters
at a glittering awards function recently. The awards for
three financial years 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17
were conferred upon 32 silk exporters from all over India
which comprised manufacturers of silk and silk blend
products together with handmade silk carpets. Total 81
trophies, 9 shields, two Lifetime Achievement Awards,
one Special Grand Jury award and five shield awards
were conferred to the outstanding exporters from all
walks of life including next generation entrepreneurs.

Quantum Knits, a unit of KPR Mills, Coimbatore won the
Best Supplier of the Year award from Kmart Australia.
The award was given at the global supplier event in
Hong Kong. Dhanabalan S, VP – Garment Exports,
Quantum Knits received the award from Ian Bailey, MD,
Kmart Australia and Arjun Puri, GM-Sourcing, Kmart
Australia Sourcing (KSA). There were nearly 95 suppliers
of Kmart Australia in this event from China, Vietnam,
Cambodia, Indonesia, Bangladesh and India.
