Over the years, Panipat has
improved a lot over compliance
and allied issues and that is why
the industry here has not faced
any undesirable impact so far.

Definitely, there is negative
impact because of pollution
issue, especially on buyer
visitation. I would like to share
my own experience. Recently
one of our buyers from Norway
directly came to Jaipur. She
had heard a lot about Delhi’s
pollution and avoided going
to the city due to the same
reason. She called Delhi-based
exporters to Jaipur and met
them there and went back
directly from Jaipur. Few other
buyers also have had such
pollution-related discussion
with me.
This is just one of my
experience. It implies that
such similar situations might
also be happening elsewhere.
Avoidance of buyers’ to go
to Delhi is not a good sign
and if things are not going to
change, there will be a major
impact on the business. Our
society, administration and
Government should seriously
and collectively work on the
pollution issue with long-term
planning.

NEXT MINDTREE QUESTION
Labour hiring and firing has become a vicious circle for garment exporters.
If orders are not there, factories have to fire them, but in case of more orders,
getting labour becomes difficult and factories end up paying more to the
workers. Is there any solution to this problem? How are you managing the
same? Is good HR practice a feasible solution for this?
dyeing and printing units
were closed for few days
in the month of November,
but we managed to
mend this gap because
although production got
delayed for nearly four
days, it did not have any
significant influence on
shipment delivery. However,
we have conducted
counselling of our
workers to suggest them
remedial measures to save
themselves from pollution,
which they all need to take
care of.
