Japan Apparel Imports
January to December 2017
Japan concludes 2017 with slight surge in
unit prices Y-o-Y
Over the years, the apparel suppliers to Japan have been
complaining about the 100% inspection practice of the Japanese
buyers. This practice is making apparel costlier due to more
manpower, more space and more lead time. Year 2017 was also
the same, as Bangladesh, one of the top apparel suppliers to
Japan, was down massively in both volumes and values of the
apparel exports. Japan too closed the year with a slight surge in
the unit price which was 0.45 yen as against 0.44 yen in the same
period of 2016.
