TRADE STATISTICS Canada Apparel Imports January to June 2018 ASEAN continues capturing major chunk in Canadian apparel market Canada has become a favourite place for ASEAN countries as far as apparel trade is concerned and the same was indicated by the first half apparel import data of Canada. Cambodia got notable boost as it continued its robust performance and marked an impressive growth of 12.7 per cent to ship US $ 397.43 million worth of apparels in the Canadian market. Further, Vietnam’s escalation in Canada will further boost once the recently signed CPTPP agreement will get implemented officially in early 2019. B’Desh Exports in Value Canada Imports in Value 4.67 % The knitted apparel reported 4.47% surge during the review period, whereas the woven segment saw rise of 4.88% in value terms. 1.99 % Bangladesh grew in both knitted and woven garment exports to Canada by 0.29% and 3.26%, respectively during the review period. Japan Apparel Imports January to May 2018 Japanese apparel imports fall in May Japanese apparel import saw a sharp fall in May this year. The country imported apparels worth US $ 1,996 million in May, while the import value in April was US $ 2,169 million. Knitted apparel import plunged significantly to US $ 913.32 million as compared to US $ 1,015 million in April month. The downfall was noted mainly due to weakening yen which impacted import. However, Japan has signed an FTA with EU recently which is said to make import cheaper from the region in upcoming months. B’Desh Exports in Value Vietnam Exports in Value 13.64 % 14.81 % Bangladesh noted surge in both knitted and woven segments.
