ITMA set for another scintillating
show at Barcelona next year;
exhibition space already full
P
opular technology event ITMA is
all geared up to witness another
vibrant showcase in Barcelona
(Spain) next year. The exhibition
space for 2019 edition has already
been booked, according to show
owner CEMATEX.
The event will be held from 20th
to 26th June 2019, and will occupy
all nine exhibition halls at Fira de
Barcelona, Gran Via venue.
Fritz P. Mayer, President,
CEMATEX, commented, “The
response for ITMA 2019 is so
overwhelming that we have not been
able to meet the demand for space
despite adding two more exhibition
halls. ITMA is a show for the industry,
by the industry. Hence, we are of the
opinion that ITMA should feature
a wide spectrum of cutting-edge
solutions from as many solutions
providers as possible, whether
established or new-to-market.”

Charles Beauduin, Chairman,
ITMA Services, too shared the
same views as Mayer and averred,
“Currently, we were only able to
accommodate some 1,660 exhibitors
from 47 countries on the show floor.
We have to put many applicants on
the waiting list.”
Federico Pellegata, Director of
ACIMIT (Association of Italian
Textile Machinery Manufacturers)
also agreed that space constraint
is there due to massive number of
participants.
The sectors which have occupied
most of the exhibition area are
spinning, printing and garment
manufacturing technology.
As far as spinning segment is
concerned, Japanese textile pioneer
and a well-known name to ITMA,
Murata Machinery, will showcase its
latest range of spinning machinery.
The company’s CEO, Daisuke
Murata, shared that ITMA has
been a very important international
exhibition for Murata and has become
a proven platform to launch the
company’s new technologies.
Markedly, printing, which was a part
of the finishing segment previously,
will get standalone space this time
and it has already garnered massive
interest of the industry. The number
of exhibitors in the printing and inks
sector has jumped around 30 per cent
as compared to that in ITMA 2015,
said the organisers.
Dick Joustra, CEO, SPGPrints
Group, shared, “Digitalisation is
having a tremendous impact on the
textile and garment industry, and
the true extent of its influence can
be seen not only in textile printing
companies, but also throughout
the value chain. As a total supplier
in conventional and digital textile
printing, we see ITMA as an
important marketplace to show our
latest technologies.”
Further, garment manufacturing
segment too has noted a great
response. Gone are the days when
garment manufacturing used to be
labour-intensive industry as now, it
is using more industry 4.0 concepts
such as Artificial Intelligence,
robotics, vision systems and other
advanced automation. ITMA 2019 will
focus on the same trends.
Borsoi, Bullmer, Card Clothing &
Services, Han’s Yueming Laser,
Juki, Serkon Tekstil and SoftWear
Automation will be some of the fresh
participants in ITMA 2019.
