TRADE STATISTICS Canada Apparel Imports January to July 2018 Canada is gradually becoming a key market for exporters! Canadian apparel industry has always been lucrative for the top garment exporting nations. Proving its worth, Canada continued growing till July this year with 4.11 per cent growth. Bangladesh is somehow losing this market and China too is feeling dents in its apparel export to Canada providing India and ASEAN countries an opportunity to grab the shifting business. B’Desh Exports in Value Canada Imports in Value 4.11 % The knitted apparel reported 3.51% surge during the review period, whereas the woven segment saw rise of 4.74% in value terms. 0.60 % Bangladesh plunged in knitted garment exports to Canada by (-) 2.84%, while woven garment exports got a marginal boost of 1.13% during the review period. Japan Apparel Imports January to June 2018 Japanese apparel import escalates during H1 ’18; Vietnam and Bangladesh gain heavily The first half of 2018 proved to be a better year for Japanese clothing import as compared with H1 ’17. Overall unit prices remained stagnant, while a marginal decline was noted in prices as far as Bangladesh and Vietnam are concerned which propelled the Japanese buyers’ demand in volume terms. However, in the 2nd quarter (April to June ’18), the import of Japan continuously declined from US $ 2,169 million in April to US $ 1,996 million in May and, in June, it valued US $ 1,840 million which is not a good sign for the exporters. B’Desh Exports in Value Vietnam Exports in Value 17.33 % 18.17 % Bangladesh grew in both knitted and woven segments.
