TRADE STATISTICS Canada Apparel Imports January to August 2018 CETA positively affects Canadian apparel import from EU In just one year since taking effect, CETA has generated significant benefits, with increase in trade between Canada and the EU. Apparel import from Portugal, Luxembourg, Bulgaria and Romania increased following slashed tariff lines to zero per cent. Despite the growth from EU, Asian manufacturing hubs Vietnam, Indonesia and India dominated the overall Canadian apparel import during the review period, while Bangladesh felt the dent in its export performance. B’Desh Exports in Value Canada Imports in Value 3.47 % The knitted apparel reported 2.84% surge during the review period, whereas the woven segment saw rise of 4.14% in value terms. 1.44 % Bangladesh plunged in knitted garment exports to Canada by (-) 3.22%, while woven garment exports too fell by (-) 0.03% during the review period. Japan Apparel Imports January to July 2018 India, Bangladesh and Vietnam escalate in apparel export to Japan Despite a slight surge in unit prices, Japan experienced growth in its apparel import during January-July 2018 period. After China, which contributes 59 per cent in total import value of Japan, Vietnam dominated with 14 per cent market share and got massive jump of 20.12 per cent in value-wise export during the review period. Bangladesh and India, on the other hand, noted considerable surge as the countries registered double-digit growth in their respective apparel exports to Japan. B’Desh Exports in Value Vietnam Exports in Value 19.51 % 20.12 % Bangladesh grew in both knitted and woven segments.
