Canada Apparel Imports
January to December 2017
Canada concludes 2017 with a sharp rise in
apparel import value
Canada significantly witnessed expensive clothing import in 2017
as the country’s total import values in the clothing sector surged by
5.35%. The low Canadian dollar put pressure on retailers’ margins
and forced them to offset higher costs by hiking prices all through the
year. Industry watchers say Canada’s retail clothing sector is expected
to slowdown in the coming few years even though the battle for
luxury shoppers is reviving up. The retail sales of clothing is expected
to surge at a slow pace of 2.1 per cent by 2020.
