EVENT HIG H L EAD HOPES HIGH FOR BANGLADESH’S LUCRATIVE APPAREL INDUSTRY T he next generation successors are always expected to take the legacy of their predecessors forward, aligning with the vision and values. Highlead, a prominent Chinese sewing machines provider, has seen this change recently as David Xu, Manager, Foreign Trade Department has taken over the reins of Highlead’s global market. After being appointed as Manager, David represented Highlead for the first time in Bangladesh at Garmentech ’18 in association with its Indian agent HCA. “I am very optimistic about the Bangladesh’s market. Highlead is a reputed name in China and I am expecting the same result for a country like Bangladesh whose main exports are textile and apparel,” shared David. The strength of Highlead undoubtedly lies in its heavy-duty and special machines, however, apparel segment is also on high-priority as far as Bangladesh is concerned. To capitalize on the great potential that the country has in its apparel industry, Highlead offered GC20518 twin-needle high speed lockstitch sewing machine at the exhibition. Suitable for stitching shirts, uniforms, underwear and jeans, GC20518 comes in four variations. M and MD are suitable for light-to-medium weight f abrics whereas, B and BD variants of GC20518 can stitch medium and heavy-weight fabrics. The machine produces two lines of lockstitch with the help of two straight needles. Synchro feeding of needle bar and feed dog assures even stitches and prevents materials being sewn from shifting. “This machine runs smoothly at 4,000 RPM, works quietly and ensures long-life,” claimed David. Adding to that, David boasted that MD and BD variants are designed with electronic servo motor, digital circuit control and automatic sewing modes such as auto trimming, auto needle positioning and auto stitch presetting. David Xu (L), Manager, (Foreign Trade Department), Highlead with his colleague (R) and Bhavya Anand (C), Business Developer, HCA “These features are enough to make our machines perform with stability and efficiently,” asserted David. Just displaying quality machines can’t lead to sales conversion and, knowing this fact, Highlead is well-prepared to sell its machines in the competitive Bangladesh market. “Apart from offline efforts, we have our Instagram and YouTube channels too where we upload images and videos of our machines to keep our customers updated,” informed David. According to David, in the era of digitalization, the strategy should be made keeping those kinds of serious customers in mind who spend most of their time in searching new technologies online. To strengthen footprints in Bangladesh, Highlead is also looking to collaborate with a local agent. “Apart from HCA, this agent will mull ways for us in the Bangladesh’s market,” concluded David, while informing that Highlead has also opened a technical office in Dhaka which currently has 5 engineers to support the customers. “I AM VERY OPTIMISTIC ABOUT THE BANGLADESH’S MARKET. HIGHLEAD IS A REPUTED NAME IN CHINA AND I AM EXPECTING THE SAME RESULT FOR A COUNTRY LIKE BANGLADESH WHOSE MAIN EXPORTS ARE TEXTILE AND APPAREL,” SHARED DAVID. www.apparelresources.com | MARCH 2018 | Apparel Online Bangladesh 25
