Canada apparel imports’ values see marginal
decline; CPTPP promises a better year ahead
Year 2017 was full of fluctuations for the Canadian economy
and, all through the year, the country witnessed high value of the
imported apparels. However, in the first month of 2018, the import
value saw a slight decline. Year 2018 is said to be better for the
Canadian retail market as it has joined 10 other nations to form the
highly anticipated Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for
Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) which will provide Canada with an
opportunity to import from these countries on low tariffs.

the 100% inspection practice of the Japanese buyers. This practice
is making apparel costlier due to more manpower, more space and
more lead time. Year 2017 was also the same, as Bangladesh, one
