Products on display at the expo
its focus on the traditional markets of Europe and North America while also trying to gain grounds in the non-traditional and emerging markets, to survive, sustain and evolve in the long run.
Unlike Sattar, Remi Daudet – Country Manager of TAO and Mortaes Md. Ashhabib, Wash Technician from Debenhams were in the expo for different reasons altogether. If Ashhabib came looking for sustainable chemicals, the Country Manager of the French kidswear brand was in the expo seeking sustainable denim developments in kids’ section.
“ We are mainly selling in France, Poland, Middle East and North Africa … For our kind of products, Bangladesh is the best place for sourcing in terms of capacity, service, pricecompetitiveness, etc. As we are a specialist in kidswear, I am looking for products with eco-friendly
washes and comfortable fabrics,” maintained Daudet.
Apart from the fabric manufacturers, the expo also witnessed participation of a large number of denim accessory and chemical manufacturers from across the globe, which was a testimony to the expo’ s aim of offering a vibrant platform for all the stakeholders while also promoting the Bangladesh denim sector as has been underlined by the CEO of Bangladesh Denim Expo, Mostafiz Uddin.“ Bangladesh Denim Expo is designed to promote Bangladesh’ s strengths and capacity in the manufacture of denim products. It also focuses on the latest innovations and technologies to familiarise manufacturers with them … In this issue, we have tried to show that Bangladesh is no longer a country for the procurement of simple products. Our efforts are aimed at promoting the denim industry and making it the best denim product sourcing centre,” Mostafiz underlined.
