Japan Apparel Imports
January to November 2018
Japan feels the heat in its apparel import due to
increased UVR
During Jan.-Nov. ’18 period, Japan noticed a surge in its value-
wise apparel import not because the consumer demand increased
considerably, but due to rise in unit prices. Against 450 yen per kg of
garments in 2017, Japan rose to 470 yen per kg of garments in the
ongoing year’s review period, major contributor remained Bangladesh
which unexpectedly jumped 4.20 per cent in unit prices over the last
year. Vietnam was another country that maintained the pace of its
growth in the Japanese apparel market.
