EU apparel import about to conclude 2018 on positive note;
China and India set to fall
January to November 2018
Owing to rising consumer demand for apparels in European market, the 28-nation bloc is expected to increase its sourcing
from the Asian countries in 2018 surpassing its own data in 2017. However, China – the Asian superpower in manufacturing,
declined both in values and volumes till November by (-) 1.96 per cent and (-) 5.76 per cent respectively, and is unlikely
to regain in December. India too fell short of what it had achieved from its exports to EU in the same period last year, while
Bangladesh and Vietnam continued surging indicating both the countries have managed to capture the shift from China.
