EVENT REVIEW
Jack moves
aggressively into
the Bangladesh
market; sets
US $ 30 million
target in 2019
G
one are the days when Chinese
quality was considered as meagre.
The world is now dominantly equipped
with technology exported from China in
various industries including multimedia,
infrastructure and even sewing. In fact
Jack is one of those names which has
strongly emerged as a sewing technology
pioneer in less than two decades.
Incepted in early 2000, Jack Sewing
Machine Co., Ltd. made its debut in the
lucrative Bangladesh market in 2004,
and since then, there has been no looking
back for the company.
Volume-wise, Jack has already surpassed
its competitors (specially the Japanese
brands) over the years to become the
world’s leading company of sewing
technology and has been witnessing
continuous growth in the Bangladesh
market as well. “We have not lost market
to the Japanese brands which have
captured people’s mind because they
exist for more than four decades now.
We are here to change this mindset
as in spite of Japanese quality being
good, their prices are too high and not
everybody can afford their technology.
With innovation, performance, quality,
acquisitions and strong sales support,
we have achieved nearly US $ 25
million in Bangladesh in just 15 years,”
claimed Nelson, Country Manager
(Bangladesh), Jack.
The well-achieved success of Jack can be
attributed to the fact that Bangladesh is
no more a CM manufacturing destination
and is evolving more as a value-added
product-centric country. The recent hike
in wages have further strengthened this
market for Jack, and to capitalise on
these factors, the sewing brand showed
up its major products in the recently
concluded Garmentech event in Dhaka.
Jack displayed a full range of its A
series SNLS machine, C5 automatic
computerised overlock machine, auto
pocket welting machine, auto placket
setting machine and auto template
machine.
A5 SNLS, one of the top selling products
of Jack, was a key highlight which got
some serious visitation all through the
four-day event. Termed as the ‘First
thread cleanness’ computerised machine
in the world, A5 has patented features
such as digital alert system for oil
leakage, bird nest prevention system,
auto thread trimming, machine head
oil-free system, 3 mm end sewing thread
trail and coaxial driving unit. The
machine is also a conglomerate of auto
bobbin winder, multipresser foot, suction
device and electronic thread tension

(Bangladesh) and other team members
release system. A5 has working space
of 300 mm which makes the operation
easier for the operator.
The machine also features the coaxial
driving mechanism that reduces the
vibration generated from the driving
force. The coaxial shaft replaces the
conventional two-axle joint mechanism
which keeps the sewing stable
throughout the operation.
“Not just A5, we have also started selling
A6F now in Bangladesh, sales of which
is expected to boost up in 2019,” opined
Nelson, explaining that big groups
(Standard Group, Nassa Group to a
name a few) in Bangladesh have openly
embraced Jack’s machines.
On the other hand, C5 is high speed
automatic overlock machine with
pneumatic suction device. The machine
does have three modules, i.e. fully
automatic mode, semi-automatic mode
and manual mode. Using fully automatic
mode, the operator’s fatigue can be
drastically reduced as well as efficiency
can be improved as the need for pressing
the pedal is not required in this mode.
Further, the machine comes equipped
with three safety sensors: presser foot,
eye protection cover and sewing plate
sensor. “Even operators can fix the small
problems in this machine. The machine
guides them step by step and tells them
how to fix these issues,” boasted Nelson.
Handling operations successfully in a
country like Bangladesh is never an easy
task but, every month, the technical teams
of Jack still manage to organise trainings
to educate dealers and sub-dealers to let
them understand the basic technicalities
of its machines as well as to guide them
about how to do preventive maintenance
in case of any sort of errors being found
in the machines after they are installed in
the factories. “Frankly speaking, we are
pioneers in sewing machine performance,
with after-sales service, strong technical
team and we have our liaison office in
Bangladesh. All of these collectively give
wings to our high aim,” asserted Nelson.
Sharing his views on the sales target
for 2019, the Country Manager stated
that given the present conditions in
Bangladesh where workers’ agitation
has stopped, people are investing more
in technology than ever before, wages
are rising. Therefore, Jack is geared up
to achieve US $ 30 million in 2019. “It is
a place where more than 4,500 factories
are located. Value addition trend is
rising. Trust of people is increasing on
Chinese companies which is a positive
sign for us,” concluded Nelson happily.
