Efka explores the south-east Asian
market with its state-of-the-art
technologies for the sewing industry
number of head mount adaptors
increasingly being used. This technology
increases the service life of the motor and
sewing machine significantly because
of low vibration and a cooling system
which works for the motor and the sewing
machine perfectly. The flexible-direct
shaft coupling better tolerates than any
other mounting system and avoids any
kind of misalignment. In total, it combines
advantages of all mounting systems
and eliminates the disadvantages. The
available Direct Drive Motors DC1210/1230
are perfectly tailored for overlock and
chainstitch machines and round off this
technology aptly.
Moreover, the controllers are capable of
handling up to 400 volts of power and
can detect the heavy volts, automatically
shutting down the system before damage
occurs to the machine. Also, today the
manufacturers, in order to have greater
productivity, run the machines at a very
high speed which often leads to heating of
the machine damaging the system. These
motors can be operated at a speed of about
8,000 RPM and when the temperature
becomes extremely high, these stop
automatically and restart when the system
gets normal.

E
fka, one of the leading manufacturers
of industrial sewing motors and
controls, has been driving its business
since last 130 years. Realising the
potential that Bangladesh possesses, the
company this time took initiatives to reach
out and support the country through its
innovative solutions. Garmentech 2019
was the perfect platform for the German
technology supplier to showcase its
technology and innovation that it has for
the sewing industry.
The major attraction was its Big Data
Service for the sewing machine brands.
Efka company is very much updated
with the current trends that are driving
the smart manufacturing systems and
therefore it has already encapsulated these
technologies in its electronics. “The EFKA
Big Data Service for all sewing machine
brands (Industry 4.0) provides an adaptable
and customisable system which is able to
grow with customers’ requirements. This is
the only way to think big, start small, learn
fast!” said Sebastian Feges, Head of Sales
& Marketing, Efka.
This technology enables the system to
create a clear transparency of the sewing
production data. The system collects data
and uses that for predictive maintenance,
quality control and professional
maintenance. The system is also able to
perform meaningful statistics, enabling
very precise planning and better decisions.
The service also increases the work-
ratio, optimises performance efficiency
and lowers production costs. Because it
communicates bi-directionally, all settings
can be influenced and thus completely
new possibilities can be fulfilled, such as
producing tailor-made clothing.
“A couple of years ago, we introduced
the foundation for Big Data solutions
with the new AB6xx series controls
and new programming panels with
communication via smartphone or tablet
app. And this was only the beginning.
With these flexible drives, it is now
possible to drive motors from other
manufacturers and give the customers
new opportunities for lean replacement
if only the control box is damaged and no
original control is available or suitable,”
added Sebastian.
Efka’s unique Direct Drive technology
is another key highlight with a growing

Additionally, these motors are designed
using the patented magnetic encoder
system that has a great resistance against
dust and oil. The vector controlled motor
motion provides better reaction time for
less production cost. This makes it suitable
for high speed applications, smoother runs
with fast acceleration and deceleration.
The motors also feature easy and quick
assembly of the head mounting adaptors.
The flexible plates make it easier to
adapt to different sewing machines. Also,
the motors are high-speed servo motors
that consume less energy and give high
torque more continuously over the whole
speed range.
Efka is already serving companies like
Duerkopp-Adler, Yamato and Pegasus and
now in order to expand its footprints in
Bangladesh, Mac International has joined
the company as its sales and service team.
“The south-east Asian countries
are already developing, and even in
Bangladesh, they have a very different
mindset now. These people are very
much keen about maintaining the quality
of their final products. For this, they
are ready to invest in technologies that
can help them achieve the same. So, we
think that this is the most appropriate
time for us to serve this market with our
technologies.” concluded Sebastian on
an optimistic note.
