Canada gets into NAFTA 2.0 as NAFTA comes to
an end in September
After more than one year of negotiations, Canada finally reached
a new free trade agreement with Mexico and the United States.
The US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will replace the North
American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) which came into force on
1st January 1994, creating what was at that time the world’s largest
free trade region. This new trade deal will certainly affect the apparel
sector in Canada and the results will be seen in upcoming months.

Major apparel hubs capitalise on vibrant
Japanese apparel market
Japan, the 4th largest apparel retail market in the world, offers
some of the most interesting opportunities for the apparel exporters
across the world. The same could be witnessed during the 8-month
period of 2018 when major apparel exporting destinations such
as Bangladesh, Vietnam and India noted jump in both values and
volumes capitalising both on the large retail market as well as
declining Chinese exports to Japan. However, Japan also experienced
surge in the unit prices by 2.32 per cent which, if continued, is
expected to slow down the export in the subsequent months.
